The Enticing Foodie Scene in South London

London has developed a vibrant foodie scene over the past few decades after centuries of traditional British cuisine dominating the scene. This has been spurred by the influx of immigrants from different countries who have influenced the tastes of locals with their tasty and spicy offerings. This is visible more in south London where there are plenty of delicious options in areas such as Clapham, Fulham, Greenwich and even Richmond. At some of the food outlets you can get incredible global cuisines that will titillate your taste buds. The market thrives from Thursday to Saturday when its stalls offer free samples to all visitors enabling budget travellers to satisfy their hunger without any cost by going round the market and tasting different foods. The market also features some permanent businesses which are ideal for food conscious budget travellers. The various food outlets in the market include Brindisa Grill that offers chorizo sandwich: smoky, hot paprika-packed sausage topped with fresh rocket and juicy piquillo pepper, on a char-grilled olive oil-dressed bun; Roast-to-Go which is a take-away kiosk offering scotch eggs, bacon butties and roast beef sandwiches along with half-baguette filled with fried egg, proper bacon and black pudding; and Baxter’s Café and Furness Fish stall.

Dosa n Chutny, Tooting and Croydon: This place is more of a café than restaurant offering a menu that includes standard tandoor oven and curry dishes, specialising in South Indian cuisine which is famous for being light with sensitive spicing. The dosas are made from a finely-ground rice and lentil batter mix, fried on a flat griddle like a crepe, served with liquidised, frothy and refreshing green coconut “chutney”, and sambar which is tamarind, tomato and lentil dahl cooked down into thick, fragrant gravy.
