A visit To Banham Zoo

Norfolk is a delightful getaway just a few hour’s drive from London. It offers incredibly beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, historic attractions and plenty of family oriented activities, which make it a popular destination for Londoners and visitors to the city.

Finding a suitable place to stay is not a problem as there is ample choice of accommodation in Norfolk available, suited to a wide variety of budgets. From B&Bs to luxury hotels there are plenty of places to stay.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel that is wallet friendly the Harpers hotel would be an ideal choice. It’s convenient location also makes it a popular choice of accommodation with visitors and travellers to Norfolk. One of the best places to visit with the kids is Banham Zoo, which is an award winning zoo that houses more than 2,000 species of wild animals from across the world. It lies close to the border of South Norfolk and was founded in 1968. Since then its collection of animals has expanded considerably and it offers a great choice of places to eat, apart from a reasonably priced gift shop.

One of the most attractive features of the zoo is that it offers visitors a rare opportunity to get really close to the animals, with visitors able to enter a number of enclosures and see the animals play and frolic around them. Two such enclosures that visitors can enter are the prairie dog and lemur enclosures. It is a very thrilling experience for the kids to undergo. While the tickets are a bit expensive it is one of the best places to enjoy an exciting day out with the family.

There are numerous activities planned for families with everyone involved that makes it all the more engaging an experience. These include events like feeding the animals, Birds of Prey displays, Amazing Animals and of course the fascinating Safari Road Train, along with plenty of outdoor and indoor play-areas. There is the Zorb Zone for those who are up to it and the Junior Skytrek and Skytrek experiences, which is a wonderful way of seeing the zoo. There are plenty of educative and entertaining interactive sessions, which kids love to be a part of.

While there do not miss visiting Eureka, the subtropical house that is home to an exotic collection of flora, butterflies and birds. Some of the animals that can be seen at the zoo include monkeys, lemurs, sloths and a variety of primates. There are the big cats enclosures that feature cheetahs, Amur tigers and the very rare and elusive snow leopards.  In the birds section there are parrots, flamingos, ibis and pheasants. A major draw with visitors is the exciting Penguin Colony where visitors get to catch a close up view of black footed penguins at the zoo.

There are great place to eat with a variety of cafes and restaurants with many of the menus featuring favourite dishes of the kids. Banham Zoo is a wonderful place to spend an exciting day out with the family.
