Reasons Why Travellers will Adore Heading to the Historic Langham Dome in Norfolk

Learning about the war generation can definitely be an eye-opening experience for many tourists when they go on holiday. If travellers are in the beautiful area of Norfolk they must take a trip to the stunning town of Langham. Based here is the famous Royal Air Force Langham that was used between 1940 and 1961. Known commonly as RAF Langham this former base was used by Coastal Command during the Second World War. The airfield originally had three grass runways and was upgraded with concrete during the war years. The base was closed in 1947 but was reactivated for use during the Korean War.

At this location there is Langham Dome that was built in 1942 and sits on the edge of the former base. It is one of only six remaining training domes in the country, so is somewhere that tourists like to visit when in the area to learn about its interesting history. The dome was where anti-aircraft gunners were trained using pioneering technology. This was a long time before virtual reality was created, but moving images were projected on the inside of this building for trainees to learn how to shoot enemy aircraft. Travellers can head to this spot to take a journey back in time to learn about the gunners who served at RAF Langham.

There are many reasons to head to this wonderful historic destination that has the chance to watch films about the Dome and RAF Langham narrated by presenter Stephen Fry. Visitors can also play table top games to learn more about military missions and what daily life was like at the base. There is also a chance to try out an interactive training gun where tourists can attempt to hit the targets in the original films made for RAF officers. Most excitingly travellers can explore an interactive model of RAF Langham Airfield. This is definitely an ideal location for families who have a brilliant range of Norfolk hotels to choose from.

The Harper Langham Norfolk Hotel is an impressive boutique residence that provides a brilliant spa with a steam room, Jacuzzi, sauna and pool. Travellers will feel right at home as soon as they arrive at this beautiful hotel, which used to be home to Langham Glass before it was converted. The spacious rooms have lovely beds, oak floors and monsoon showers that include special bath products. This luxury residence has two outstanding restaurants on offer that are both ideal for business or pleasure. Stanley’s is perfect for a meal with family and friends, while The Stove provides delicious, fresh fine dining dishes for travellers to enjoy.

Opened in 2013 Langham Dome has proved to be a popular destination to visit, and is ideal for travellers to learn about the history and sacrifices made during the Second World War. There are regular events held at the attraction, so visitors should check before they visit so they do not miss a fun day out. There is an annual Dome Day held at the venue that features live music and a chance to see interesting aircraft from the war era. This attraction is a great place to have an entertaining and educational day trip for tourists to enjoy in pretty Norfolk.
