All About The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a lovely place to be  in and provides one with the best ways of enjoying a good travel experience. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is an inner London borough which has perfect borough status and lies to the west of the centre. It is the smallest borough in London and is also considered as the smallest district in this continent. This is an urban region and is very thickly populated in the United Kingdom which lies just behind the London Borough of Islington.

More About the Borough
The borough is right next to the west of the Westminster City and also to the east of the Hammersmith and Fulham. It has  major museums as well as universities and has many things of importance to its credit like Harrods and Harvey Nichols along with embassies in Belgravia, Kensington Gardens, and Knightsbridge. It is the place where one has the Notting Hill Carnival which is also the largest in Europe. It is home to one of the  most expensive districts of residence in London and the world too and has lot of social housing and poverty problems. The Chelsea London Borough Council is the local authority here and the main motto here is Quam Bonum in Unum Habitare which means How Good To Dwell in Unity.

Origin of the Borough
The Borough was created in the year 1965 from the earlier boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and a royal status was given to the borough when the new borough was formed. This was initially to be named as Kensington but then the Chelsea  name also  got included in it. The borough has Albertopolis, Belgravia, Bayswater, Brompton, Earl’s Court, Chelsea, Holland Park, Kensington, Kensal Town, Ladbroke Grove, North Kensington, Notting Hill, West Brompton, South Kensington, West Kensington and World’s End.

The Population
The Borough has a population of around 1,58,649 amongst which the Whites dominate and then there are a fraction of Asian and multiple ethnic groups. There are also some Black African and Black  Caribbean populace. There is a high French population here which is the reason the place was the owner of the   unofficial title of the 21st arrondissement.  The borough is popular for having a higher proportion of high earners and is in fact the most financially secure local government district in the entire country. The residents in the borough were in fact the fourth most active in the country in terms of health and fitness. It is said that a quarter of the population participate thrice a week for such activities. There has been a joint venture by the New Policy Institute and Trust for London which would facilitate the greatest imbalance between those who  earn a lot and those who do not earn at all. The top half actually earn much more than the bottom quarter. The borough also has the  neighbouring Hammersmith & Fulham where these two boroughs have combined for many departments and services along with one another and the Westminster City Council. There are two constituencies in the borough which represent the House of Commons  in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The Kensington region is held by the  Conservative Party and the Chelsea  and Fulham constituency is held by another Conservative Party.
